PROTECT & SERVE: Public Safety in Overland Park

Police, fire, emergency services, and disaster response grew alongside the city. This Discover O.P. exhibition explores how public safety adapted to population growth, new infrastructure, and changing community needs. The image shown here is of the Strang Car Barn following a mammoth fire in 1925. The Car Barn was rebuilt and stands today as the home of Stone Manor on 79th.

Our sincere thanks to the Overland Park Fire and Police Departments for their assistance with this exhibit.
