REMEMBERING OVERLAND PARK

Memories. Nostalgia. “The good old days.” We all like to look back to days gone by and remember.

The Overland Park Historical Society’s collection of photographs, artifacts, signage, and furnishings brings all those good feelings back for those who lived and worked in Overland Park in the early years before and following the incorporation of Overland Park as a city in 1960.

Many of the iconic structures of the times – 1950’s through the 1980’s – are no longer here. Metcalf South. Katz Drug Store. Glenwood Manor Motor Hotel and Glenwood Theatre. The French Market. Favorite hangouts: Smaks, Shakey’s, and Villa Capri. Enjoy your trip back in time – or share those memories with your children or grandchildren.

Discover O.P. also has a nearly complete collection of yearbooks for the high schools Overland Park students attended. Now those really bring back the memories!
