– Learning Overland Park’s Story

Through partnerships with the Shawnee Mission and Blue Valley school districts, OPHS brings Overland Park’s history to life for students—helping them understand the community’s past and inspiring them to take an active role in its future. Teachers can choose from three lively, age-appropriate lessons exploring different aspects of Overland Park’s history, designed to complement classroom learning and engage students at their grade level.

Discover O.P. also welcomes school field trips, offering students the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience local history through exhibits, artifacts, and hands-on learning.

Young visitors will find exhibits and activities for them throughout Discover O.P. On special occasions, including Family Fun Days on the last Saturday of each month, the museum offers additional hands-on activities and opportunities for families to explore Overland Park’s history together.
