2022 Indoor Summer Picnic
July 16

Thank you to everyone who Donated to SafeHome in December!
Throughout the month of December , the Overland Park Historical lSociety collected new mittens, hats, gloves and scarves to donate to Safehome , the temporary shelter in Johnson County for victims of domestic violence. There is a great need for these items in winter, as often young victims of abuse have to flee their homes for the safety of Safehome, without an opportunity to gather appropriate garments. We are so thankful to everyone who took the time to shop for and donate these items. A special thank -you to those who hand-knitted some wonderful scarves. OPHS is very pleased with the number of donated items we gathered and look forward to delivering them to Safehome very soon.

OPHS hosts small picnic gathering at new Thompson Park
Members of the Overland Park Historical Society met for a membership picnic on September 5 under the main shelter at Thompson Park. It was so nice to see so many of our members attend and catch up. Some of us also took a tour of the nearby Strang Depot building, where Brad Moore walked everyone through our plans for the renovation and restoration of the building in the corner of 80th & Santa Fe. We gained two new members too! Photos courtesy of Brad Moore
