Our 2024 Dash was a Smash Hit!
The Overland Park Historical Society’s second annual Depot Dash 5K event went off without a hitch on Saturday morning, August 10, 2024. Nearly 170 runners, joggers, and walkers, between the ages of 9 and 82 enjoyed the 3.1-mile course at the beautiful Aspiria Campus on a near-historically cool August morning. Eight members of the Delaware Crossing Chapter of the Kansas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution wore vintage attire to present the Colors. At the same time, OPHS Executive Director, Brad Moore, sang the National Anthem. Participants were thrilled with the impressive finishers’ medals presented to all who crossed the finish line. The medal featured an early Strang trolley car in front of the Strang Depot, laser-etched into metal in fine detail. The event netted nearly $10,000 for the society, which already has a date for the next race: August 9, 2025! The race was managed and timed by the KC Running Company.
