Thomas Johnson's History and the History of Fairway, KS by Joe H. Vaughn
160 pages. This is the first book chronicling the incredible and controversial life and times of one of the Pre-Civil War Era's influential figures in the Kansas Territory (the pre-statehood years of 1854-1861). Vaughan's book offers the depth and detail into Johnson, much of which has not been previously revealed. In addition, one of Kansas City's most loved suburbs-- Fairway, Kansas is the site of Johnson's Shawnee Methodist Indian Mission Historic Site. The Mission was a manual training school for Indian youth. Vaughan is a well-known historian and author in the Midwest.
